Welcome to Translational Research in Respiratory Medicine
The Translational Research in Respiratory Medicine Group (TRRM) consists of basic, clinical and epidemiological researchers, who work at the Institut de Recerca Biomèdica de Lleida (IRB Lleida), a collaborating center of the University of Lleida.
The principal investigator of the TRRM group is Ferran Barbé Illa.
The TRRM group of the IRB Lleida belongs, since 2008, to the Centro de Investigación en Red de Enfermedades Respiratorias (CIBERes) platform, constituting the Group 35. Currently, the Group 35 is one of the leading exponents of Spanish Sleep Network of the Sociedad Española de Neumología (SEPAR).
Our group has established collaborations with a large number of centers in Spain, Europe, America, Asia and Australia. Thus, it is developing various projects in close collaboration with other research centers, among the Comer Children’s Hospital of Chicago (USA), University of California (USA), University of Oxford (United Kingdom), Hospital of Grenoble (France), Hospital of Zurich (Switzerland), Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health (Australia), Hospital Clínic of Barcelona, Hospital Son Espases of Palma de Mallorca, University Hospital of Alava, Miguel Servet Hospital in Zaragoza, Hospital La Fe in Valencia, Guadalajara Hospital, National University Hospital (Singapore) and University of Sao Paulo Medical School (Brazil).
In the TRRM group of the IRB Lleida, we involve researchers from many specialties in order to approach the study of the pathophysiology of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA) and its consequences. The research excellence of the TRRM group has been recognized internationally and its research contributions are considered as one of the most relevant in the study and treatment of sleep apnea syndrome (OSA). Resulting of the work done by the group in recent years, there have been numerous scientific works of great international impact.
Our mission is to improve population health trough research, training and innovation in respiratory medicine, considering the society as the impeller, participant and beneficiary of our activity.
